Who We Are

ShoulderUp is a movement dedicated to educating and empowering women around the world by helping them reach their greatest potential economically, politically and culturally.

The movement is led by award-winning actress Viola Davis and entrepreneur Phyllis Newhouse, two influential leaders who launched ShoulderUp to use their voices and economic power to connect with and support other women who want to bring about positive changes in their lives.

Eventually, ShoulderUp will generate conversations that provide valuable resources and leadership advice woman-to-woman through ShoulderUp Circles. Inspiring topics will be shared through videos, podcasts and blogs in online and offline communities.

According to Davis and Newhouse, women can use their pasts to create exciting new futures. This change for women begins with establishing meaningful stories that become the foundations for building their own legacies of influence and financial power. In other words, ShoulderUp to Lift Her Up.
